Terrorism, racism, politics, climate change, student loan debt. This is what most adults are dealing with in 2015 and we’re all feeling terrible about it.
In light of all of the awful, stressful, depressing things that hit us everyday, I’m offering readers a challenge. Let’s all take a step back and forget adulthood for just a moment. Let’s search our memories for the things that made us happy when we were children. Do you remember? Good. Now let’s start doing them.
This challenge is for anyone who suffers from anxiety and depression, who may have had crummy childhood, who feels bored and listless (if you’re already feeling great, good for you!). I’m not talking about total regression here. I am aware that adults still have adult responsibilities like jobs, children, and bills. I’m talking about taking care of your inner child by engaging in fun and creative activities.
You may have already heard about the adult coloring book trend. Grown folks are coloring their stress levels down and it seems to be working. For me, I like creating things, trying new things and singing loudly! Whatever fun looks like to you, so long as it’s safe and legal, you’ve got to take advantage of it. Act like a kid!
