My husband and I are pondering a European vacation next summer and the idea alone has me almost jumping out of my seat! I studied french for 8 years and passed up an awesome opportunity to travel to France in college due to fear. My beloved author James Baldwin lived in Paris for some time and wrote so beautifully of it. I hope that our trip works out!
According to the Seattle Times, this is a big summer for road trips! Gas prices have mellowed in many parts of the country and many folks are economically hopeful, so let’s do it! My family and I have had quite an eventful year thus far so we are due for a vacation. We are heading to California soon, with stops in Gilette, Wyoming, Portland Oregon (aka The Vegan Mecca!), and La Sal, Utah (we may take a detour to Seattle, Washington as well if so inclined). I’m SUPER excited because it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been to California. I’m anticipating frequent stops at fruit stands and long hours on the beach.
Flying is cool and all, but I am particularly fond of road trips- eating at random food spots, long conversations about everything and nothing, impromptu detours, sitings of animals, nature, and commercialism, LOVE IT! See my post on healthy snacks for some ideas on great travel food.
Oh, oh, oh, lest I forget, I have news! Sometime this summer I will be launching a personal blog called Thirst&Water. It will focus on vegan food, gardening, and DIY projects. Look out for that if you’re interested. I will let you know when it is up and running.
If you are traveling this summer, first and foremost be safe, and second HAVE FUN!!! 😉
