Spring Time Protective Hairstyle

I know it’s been ages since we’ve talked about hair, but hold on to your hats. . . It’s happening today!
Lately, I’ve been in a hairstyling rut and also a little lazy. I’ve been so busy jamming information in my head that I’ve had little desire to deal with what’s on top of my head. I don’t want to manipulate my hair too much because I’ve noticed quite a bit of breakage lately. There are also days when I just want to throw on a hat and go about my day. My solution: Mini twists!

That’s great and all, but for me, mini twists don’t last very long. The ends eventually get unraveled and I hate having to re-twist. So at night, before I go to bed, I lightly wet and smooth some kind of oil on the ends before sponge rolling them up. The next day, I end up with this:

I know this is an extremely tight spiral curl, but it eventually relaxes in a day or two. The point is, I still have the same twist from earlier this week. Like most protective styles, this has prevented me from handling or combing my hair too much. I’m going to stretch this out for at least a few more days. I then plan to undo those twists and coast on a twist out for awhile. If you’re trying to hold on to a mini twist for a little while longer, might I recommend curling your ends before you sleep? I’m enjoying my curly locks tremendously!

  1. I had twists for 2 weeks and curled it…I forgot how cute that style was. I just finished my 3 mos challenge but I may put twists in and cutl them cuz they are so cute.

  2. Yay! That sounds like an idea! I love taking a break from my hair and the cuter I look doing it, the better I feel.
