The Halloween Project!

“What’s love got to do with?”
Remember those iconic words sang by 1980’s rock super star Tina Turner. . .
Well that brings us to some Official Halloween Project Business to take are of. . .
2012 Rockathon!

It is once again time for the Halloween Project to commence: www.halloweenproject.wordpress.com

Last year our “Fridathon: Costumes for Charity” event raised hundreds of dollars for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to combat breast cancer (woo-hoo).

This year, the theme for the Halloween Project is “Rockathon!”

We’re hoping to send a few girls to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.  As the website for the Rock Camp explains: “we want to eradicate all the limiting myths about music and gender that make girls afraid to speak up, sing out, and make noise. We want to abolish all the obsolete traditions that restrict many girls’ and women’s free musical expression and obstruct their access to the world of music. We seek to demonstrate—through lessons, mentorship, positive examples, and the shared experiences of the staff and volunteers—that every genre of music from the heaviest to the most delicate, and every technical job and creative endeavor in the music industry, is available to any girl or woman who wants to explore it” (http://www.girlsrockcamp.org/about/).

To participate in this year’s Halloween Project: Costumes for Charity: (1) dress up as your favorite rocker any day in October, (2) take a picture of how awesome you look, (3) email me the picture to be posted on our website, (4) make a donation of at least $5. to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls at https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/RocknRollCampforGirls/OnlineDonation.html [be sure to reference The Halloween Project in the “Comments” section], and then (5) tell a friend how cool Rock Camp is!

Check back frequently to see photos and leave comments on the website.
