Hey folks. Here is a guest blog from Maggi of Clueless Curl. She has a wonderful blog that discusses the ups and downs of living and eco-friendly life as well as her natural hair journey. Check her out!
I have not been to the salon since 2006. Since then I was doing my hair myself. I learned how to braid and sew it in myself. Oh and who can forget the girl in the neighborhood who knew how to do some hair. Although I was doing my hair myself it was not healthy. After I take out my braids/weaves, I would redo them again without any breaks in between. I would wash it but when it came to deep treatments and trims, I missed those steps and paid the price fot it. My hair was very thin and fragile. Fast forward to 2008, I looked into going natural. I surfed the web and I couldn’t believe it. I was in awe at all these websites dedicated to natural hair. I was very inspired and the summer of 2009 was when I took the plunge. My hair is now thick and healthy.
Lately, I’ve been getting tired of doing my hair. I noticed more hair = more work. I love my hair but I’m tired of all these reps I have to take in between. I switched up my routine so I won’t have to keep doing it all the time. For the summer, I’ll be keeping it in small two strand twists. I want to put that energy on food LOL. I’ve been thinking about going to the salon. But every time I think of revisiting the salon I think of why I stopped going in the first place:
Customer Service– I always felt like sh!t after leaving the salon. I was always bouncing from stylist to stylist and I hated that. The experience was not always good.
Price– I would be quoted one price then get charged another because my hair was given a “special treatment”. I could have sworn when I spoke to you that’s what we talked about.
Time– I just love how I’d be given an appointment and 10 other people has the same appointment as me. You should have told me to bring a sleeping bag.
Oh well I guess I won’t be revisiting one anytime soon.
