Summer Playlist

I’m getting out and walking these days and I need a walking mix on my iPod to avoid all the crazies that Ev was talking about. I hope you can get a hold of some of these tracks!

Flagpole Sitta- Harvey Danger

“I’m not sick, but I’m not well/And it’s so hot, cause I’m in Hell!”
Something about that chorus, makes me walk a little faster. It’s a cute song that my husband and I have picked up from this Britcom on the BBC called Peepshow. Check it out.

Rolling in the Deep- Adele

I don’t need to tell you that this white girl can sing. Her soul pours through my earbuds. And this song especially is an eerie throwback to Aretha Franklin’s sound, but with a contemporary feel.

Renegades of Funk- Rage Against the Machines

You wanna get angry and overthrow the man? You wanna start a groove revolution? These are your guys and this is your song. “Now JAM sucka! Now GROOVE sucka!” You don’t have to tell me twice.

Golden Years- David Bowie

For the funk purists out there, groove to the silky smooth voice of Bowie. “Nothing’s gonna touch you in these golden years.”

I Can’t See Nobody- Nina Simone

This is a beautiful remake of the BeeGees 1960’s hit. I’ve been listening to the Remixed and Reimagined version that’s got a little hip hop taste to it. It still has the haunting quality of the original Robin Gibb.
