Is This Protective Styling?

So…that whole protective styling for my trip to Wyoming and back…FAIL! First of all, I didn’t have time to put mini-twists in my hair before I left like I planned so I ended up wearing it in either puffs, buns, or loose under beanies the whole trip. It stayed pretty moisturized, but got very tangled. Could puffs and buns be considered protective styling? They are low-manipulation hairstyles and are usually done on stretched hair. The ends are exposed, but are only subjected to environmental elements (not clothing). Protective styling??? These styles in combination with twists will probably be my summer hair routine because with Illinois humidity twistouts, braidouts, etc. do not stand a chance.

  1. I'd say yes! Buns definitely, because you tuck the ends in. Go for it girl! 😀

  2. I'm going to be in the same quandary. We are going to spend about a month on the road and I didn't twist.
